Fabric Light Strand for Christmas

So I am addicted to Pintrest. If you don't Pin, then you need to get on board! I even have my mom and my sister on it! They are a little bit addicted as well. I found this really cute ribbon light strand under DIY/Crafts and I decided to try it out last night. We have a banister up the stairs to our other bedrooms so Matt and I both wanted something really pretty on the banister. (The more I look at Pintrest I wish I had an exposed stairwell...There is so much you can do with it!) Back to the project:

Materials:
Fabric or Ribbons (I used Christmas fabric I had leftover-Red and Green prints)
Strand of 100 lights

Time: Forever!!! I think it took me about 30 minutes to cut all the strips and then another 45-1 hour to actually tie them all.

Cuteness: 100%

1. Cut fabric into long strips. This will make cutting them into the desired length a lot easier. I cut mine about 2- 2 1/2 inches wide. I was not precise.

2. Once you cut 20-30 long strips cut the long strips into 3-4 inch(I just randomly cut and then tied them to see if that was long enough) small strips. I stacked all of my long strips together and then cut them.
3. Then I started tying! I did 2 strips between 2 light sets. On the ends I tied a couple of my extra ones to hid the plugs. In hindsight I would have probably tied more than 2 between each light set to make it look fuller. I think if you use ribbon you might have to do 3 or 4, depending on the width of the ribbon.
4. ENJOY! I hung it on our door to take some cute pictures of the finished product. I even took a cute picture of Jennings with the set on the the floor! I am thinking about doing a couple more for other places around oour house. I think it would look great on the lights you hang on the tree! Matt hung it on the banister today while I was at school and I can't wait to plug it in and have it on for Christmas!

Hello Out There!

So I have updated this blog 3 times today! Are my readers surprised! I am! My husband made me feel bad, so I am trying to update as much as I can so I will be ready for the Holidays! One reason I have not updated as much as I should have is because I have not had a camera. Matt bought a really nice point and shoot Fujifilm about 5 years ago when we were working at camp. It had been an awesome camera up to about 2 months ago. It just all of a sudden quit working one day. I changed the batteries and still got nothing. It was very weird because I could look at the pictures I had taken, but could not take a picture. So we started looking at DLSR cameras and researching what we thought we wanted. We finally decided to go with the Nikon D5100. Once we decided on the camera we really started pricing. On Veteran's Day Matt and I were spending some time out shopping for Christmas decorations and he asked me if I wanted to go ahead and get the camera! I of course said YES!!! So we got the camera and started taking pictures with it. We love it so much and we have already taken so many photos of the dog, cat, and around our house. We are trying to really study the right settings for different photos we want to take and I cannot wait to get really good at taking photos. So Merry Early Christmas to Mollie!

So not the best photo, but welcome to Matt's demise: The leaves in our yard!!!
Sweet Jennings
Beautiful Rose in front of our house!
Our beautiful Waylon. This will definitely be making it on our Christmas Card

Welcome Eli!!!!

Today we welcomed Eli Zachary Veres to the world! He is doing great and so is his Mama! We cant wait to meet you Eli! We love you Big Sister Zoe!

Visit to North Carolina

We went to NC for Matt's Dad's birthday the first weekend of November. It also jsut happened to be the "Game of a Century" in the great SEC. We drove up after a crazy week of Newcomb Volleyball at school and a Field Trip! We left Thursday night and got to NC around 8am. It was not a bad ride, jsut really tiring. When we got there Friday, Matt was busy with his Dad getting everything ready and I just slept/lounged around. Friday night Melanie and Becca got there from Greensboro and I got to love on that sweet girly! She will be 1 on December 30th and I cannot believe it! She is so cute and serious all the time. She loves Matt and just giggles at him. On Saturday it was absolutely freezing but Matt helped man the grill, while Melanie and I played with the baby! We also helped cook some items!!!! :) Overall, they think they had around 90 people in attendance. It was so much fun to see all of the family and friends that we do not get to see but a couple of times a year. We got up early Sunday and drove back to Alabama so Matt would be able to get to his Bonnie Meeting in Montgomery. I took one picture on my phone of the entire weekend! Of course it is of precious Becca Rose.
We will leave out all talk on the "Game of the Century". We will just see what happens in December! Oh and Trent for the Heisman!!!! Roll Tide Roll

Bye Helena... Hello McCalla!

Dis we really plan on buying a house this quickly? No! Are we glad we now have something of our own? Yes! Do we have a lot of work to make it what we want it? Yes!
I feel like these 3 questions have been running on repeat since we signed our contract! House buying was not the most pleasant experience for us. So bad that I told Matt that if we ever bought again it would be I cash for the entire amount! I of course know that it is crazy to think that but the last couple of weeks have been that bad!
We are in the process of moving! Which is another stress of this whole process. Did I wrap everything enough? Am I going to be able to find anything when it gets there? These are both toss ups considering. Check the pictures out below to see what the rental house looks like with all the boxes! A huge mess! I will try to post more about the house this week. I will definitely will post lots of pics!

And just because it needed to be documented!!!!

Baby Eli

This past weekend Sara, Cotney, Lindsey and I gave Adrianne a shower for Baby Eli. We had so much fun enjoying all our friends and seeing all of Eli's gifts. This was an all girl party so the boys all played paintball-their new obsession! Eli is already loved so much and has a ton of "Aunts and Uncles" to love on him! My camera is on the fritz so I snapped a few pics of the food, an gifts. Sara has a whole post with great pictures on her blog The Browns-look under people we know!
